This collection of largely unknown English and Irish Fantasias for clarinet and piano includes works by Thomas Dunhill, Howard Ferguson, Ruth Gipps, Joseph Holbrooke, Elizabeth Maconchy, Thomas Pitfield, Clarence Raybould and Ernest Tomlinson. The brainchlid of clarinettist Howard Rogerson, this collection also includes three Fantasias on operas by Michael Balfe (The Bohemian Girl), Julius Benedict (The Lily of Killarney) and Vincent Wallace (Maritana), which were later to be known as The Irish Ring, because of the Irish connection between all three.
