X: ARCHITECTURE OF TIME unites 10 leading Black classical pianists to perform celebrated works by some of the past century’s most influential Black composers, including powerful contributions from living composers, revealing a vibrant, often overlooked legacy of Black classical composition that is rich, poetic, and full of surprises. X is the second installment two-album series led by pianist and Yamaha Artist Leah Claiborne. Recorded at the Yamaha Artist Studio in New York City, produced by Claiborne and Ben Raznick, and released by PARMA Recordings, this landmark project reveals how Black composers have long infused the genre with whimsy, cultural pride, and pedagogical brilliance.
