Green Shadows is the fourth recording dedicated to the music of the British composer Richard Pantcheff, whose style draws on the musical and literary world of Ralph Vaughan Williams while speaking with a voice of its own. The programme takes its title from Green Shadows Fall and ranges from sacred music – A Prayer for the King's Majesty and a Service of Holy Communion – to the Fantasia on Yorkshire Folk Tunes and the Spring Suite for violin and string orchestra, both with Jack Liebeck as soloist. Chamber works for oboe and the narrated concert piece On Hearing the Oxford Bells at Eventide, with Alexander Armstrong, complete the portrait. London Choral Sinfonia is conducted by Michael Waldron.
