The Czech Philharmonic and its Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov present Antonín Dvořák's final three symphonies, Nos. 7, 8, and 9, paired with his concert overtures In Nature's Realm, Carnival, and Othello, as part of the 2024 Year of Czech Music. Composed at the height of Dvořák's international fame, the three symphonies span an astonishing range of style and expression, while the overtures — originally conceived as a Nature, Life, and Love trilogy before being published separately — share the composer's fascination with the natural world and human passion. The recording lets the Czech Philharmonic and Bychkov once again demonstrate their close collaboration and full command of Dvořák's sound world. Bychkov, whose tenure with the orchestra began in the 2018/19 season, has led the ensemble through an acclaimed PENTATONE series that includes Mahler's First, Second, Fourth, and Fifth Symphonies as part of an ongoing complete Mahler cycle.
