Rencontres

Rencontres
Rencontre means encounter. In the context of this album, it is a meeting of different eras, different styles and composers, a meeting of two performers with Music, which has resulted in a new perspective on well-known and lesser-known works. The former certainly include compositions by Thomas Tomkins (1572–1656), Nicholas Carleton (Carlton or Carlston, ca. 1570–1630) and Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach (1732–1795). However, it is very interesting to encounter the work of Louis-Charles Ragué (ca. 1760–1793), whose compositions are rarely performed today. Recorded for the first time in version for two harpsichords, Trois Duo, Op. 8 evokes the unique atmosphere of Parisian salons at the end of the 18th century.
