Making its Resonus Classics debut is the Australian-based early music group the Elysium Ensemble. In a collaborative research project with the Early Music Studio at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Baroque flautist Greg Dikmans and Baroque violinist Lucinda Moon present the Sei Duetti, Op. 2 of 1759 by Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1773).
Historically significant and engaging works these six duets for treble instruments exemplify the 'Art of Elegant Conversation', displaying high levels of craftsmanship while providing excellent examples of Quantz's intermediate position as a composer between the Baroque and Classical eras.
'Greg Dikmans and Lucinda Moon sensibly provide listeners with some welcome aural variety by performing the duets on flute and muted violin. They are a fine team, admirably ardent advocates for Quantz, and illuminate the surprisingly musical charms of these pedagogic pieces.'
