Ricercar has explored the music of Johann Sebastian Bach's forebears since the early 1980s, and its recordings now form the first complete collection of works by the Bach ancestors. This instalment is devoted to Heinrich Bach (1615–1692), organist in Arnstadt for half a century and great-uncle of Johann Sebastian. His sonatas and organ works reveal the craftsmanship and expressive depth that ran through the family long before its most famous member, performed by organist Cindy Castillo and fellow Ricercar artists.
