Escher String Quartet
Within months of its inception in 2005, the Escher Quartet was invited by Pinchas Zukerman and Itzhak Perlman to be quartet in residence at each artist’s summer festival: the Young Artists Program at Canada’s National Arts Centre, and the Perlman Music Program on Shelter Island, NY. The quartet has since collaborated with artists including David Finckel, Leon Fleisher, Benjamin Grosvenor, Wu Han, Lynn Harrell, Cho-Liang Lin, David Shifrin and the guitarist Jason Vieaux.
The Escher Quartet has performed at prestigious venues such as Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, Auditorium du Louvre Paris, Conservatoire de Musique Geneva, Slovenian Philharmonic Hall, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Kennedy Center (Washington DC), 92nd Street Y and Alice Tully Hall in New York. Festival appearances include the Cheltenham and City of London festivals, Festival Campos do Jordão, Perth International Arts Festival, Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival, Music@Menlo California, Risør Festival of Chamber Music and the Ravinia and Caramoor festivals.
The Escher Quartet takes its name from Dutch graphic artist M. C. Escher, inspired by Escher’s method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole. For more information, please visit the Escher Quartet's homepage.
