Christian Lindberg is one of music's great all-rounders — a trombonist who redefined his instrument's solo repertoire, a conductor of real authority, and a composer whose music Fanfare has called 'one of those rare contemporary works that captures the attention from the first notes'. This album takes its name from the closing work, 2017, which Lindberg describes as his personal testimony about the year of the US presidential election: starting on 1 January, he followed the news throughout the year and let it feed his creative process. Opening the disc is an earlier work commissioned for the nine trombones of The New Trombone Collective — music of unstoppable energy from a musician who seems incapable of doing anything in half-measures.
