Rose, Matthew
English bass Matthew Rose (b.1978).
He studied at Christ Church University, Canterbury and at the Curtis Institute of Music in the United States before becoming a member of the Young Artists’ Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
For the Royal Opera his roles have included Bottom (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Colline (La bohème), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Zuniga (Carmen), Tom (Un ballo in maschera), Collatinus (The Rape of Lucretia) and, in concert, Albert (La Juive).
In 2005 he made an acclaimed debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Bottom for which he received the John Christie Award.
