Türk, Gerd
Gerd Türk, tenor, received his first vocal training with the Limburger Domsingknaben (Boys’ Choir of Limburg Cathedral). At the Frankfurt College of Music he studied church music and choir direction. After having taught at the Speyer Institute of Church Music he devoted his attention entirely to singing. Studies of baroque singing and interpretation with René Jacobs and Richard Levitt at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis led to a career as a sought after singer, touring in Europe, South-East Asia, the USA and Japan.
He has performed at major festivals of early music, e.g. in Bruges, Utrecht, Stuttgart, London, Lucerne and Aix-en-Provence. Gerd Türk has a great preference for ensemble singing. He is a member of Cantus Cölln, Germany’s leading vocal ensemble, and Gilles Binchois (France), renowned for its interpretation of medieval music. Gerd Türk also teaches singing and oratorio interpretation at the Heidelberg College of Music.
