Wallin, Ulf
Swedish violinist Ulf Wallin (b. 1960).
He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and later at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna under Wolfgang Schneiderhan. Since 1996 he has been professor of violin at the 'Hanns Eisler' Academy of Music in Berlin, having previously held equivalent positions in Vienna and in Detmold.
Ulf Wallin devotes himself to solo and chamber music with equal dedication, and concert tours have taken him throughout Europe and the United States, playing under such conductors as Jesús López-Cobos, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Walter Weller and Franz Welser-Möst. As a chamber musician, Wallin has performed with Bruno Canino, Heinz and Ursula Holliger, András Schiff and Tabea Zimmermann, and from 1994 until 1997 he was a member of the Cherubini Quartet.
