The recordings were made in August 1996 at Lanna Church, Sweden, using a fortepiano by Paul McNulty, modeled after an instrument by Anton Gabriel Walter from around 1795. Brautigam, born in Amsterdam in 1954, is known for his performances with major orchestras and his collaborations with notable conductors. His focus on historical instruments, particularly the fortepiano, adds a distinct texture to his interpretations of Mozart's work, emphasizing the composer's brilliance and the nuances of the period instruments.
