Ligeti, György
Gyorgy Ligeti
Hungarian/Austrian composer Gyorgy Ligeti (1923-2006).
Of Hungarian-Jewish origin, Ligeti made his career in Hungary until 1956, when he moved to Vienna, where he was influenced by more experimental Western techniques of composition. His music achieved wider international reputation, incorporating contemporary techniques and experiments in a musical idiom that has proved both influential and palatable.
