Second Construction (1940) for four players

Of greatest interest is probably the rhythmic structure; it starts with a dance rhythm (perhaps with a Latin American model) but is immediately subjected to changes (interpolated beats which would upset a dancer), overlayering (at times with very complex polyrhythms) and other sabotage of every tendency to comforting regularity.
