Carl Friedrich Abel



German composer Carl Friedrich Abel (1723-1787).
Virtuoso viola da gamba player, one of the painter Thomas Gainsborough's closest friends. Abel was renowned for his extempore performances. In England he directed the famous Bach-Abel concerts.
