Orff - Carmina Burana (Chamber Version)
Catalog Number: BIS734
This album presents Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in the rarely heard chamber version for two pianos, percussion, mixed choir, children’s choir, and soloists. Based on medieval poems from the 13th century and earlier—satirical, romantic, festive, and at times bawdy—it follows the eternal turning of Fortune’s wheel through spring’s awakening, love’s delights, and the earthy revelry of tavern life. The performance features Lena Nordin, Hans Dornbusch, Peter Mattei, pianists Roland Pöntinen and Love Derwinger, Kroumata Percussion Ensemble, Allmänna Sången, and the Uppsala Choir School, conducted by Cecilia Rydinger Alin.
Made in Sweden since 1999. In collaboration with Textalk.
