Crusell, Bernhard Henrik
Finnish-Swedish composer Bernhard Henrik Crusell (1775-1838) moved to Stockholm in 1791. During 40 years he was principal clarinetist at the Royal Court Orchestra. The most enduring works are his three clarinet concertos. He wrote them for himself to perform. Clainetists say that they are just so well written for the instrument that they are a pleasure to play. Of his chamber works the three clarinet quartets are the most important.
