English composer John Danyel (1564-c.1633), brother of the noted poet Samuel Daniel, was a lutenist in Prince Charles's household between 1617 and 1625. His single collection of 'Songs to the lute viol and voice' (1606) includes some of the most elaborately wrought lute parts in the repertory.
