Martin, Frank
Swiss/Dutch composer Frank Martin (1890-1974).
His music combines a German element with French in a musical idiom that is his own, tonal, once the principles of Schoenberg's serialism had been absorbed and adapted to his own particular use. Martin moved to the Netherlands in 1946. Between 1950 and 1957 he taught composition at the 'Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, Germany.
