Gunilla von Bahr, one of the leading Nordic flute soloists of her generation and a mainstay of the early BIS catalogue, chose a programme of personal favourites for this jubilee disc. It includes Gluck's melancholy Dance of the Blessed Spirits, Debussy's solo Syrinx, Mozart's Andante and Rondo, the Air from Bach's Third Orchestral Suite and Albinoni's Adagio with an added flute part. Carl Nielsen's The Fog is Lifting pairs the flute with harp, and Grieg's The Spring appears in a new guise. A special rarity is Johann Melchior Molter's concerto for flauto d'amore, played here on the alto flute – the instrument whose warm, sensual tone von Bahr considered the most beautiful of all the flutes.
