Tetzlaff, Christian
Christian TetzlaffBorn in Hamburg, Germany in 1966, violinst Christian Tetzlaff studied at the Lübeck State Conservatory of Music with Uwe-Martin Haiberg and in Cincinnati with Walter Levin. Equally at home in the classical/romantic repertoire as in 20th-century music, Christian Tetzlaff has been described as ‘one of the most brilliant and inquisitive artists of the new generation’ (New York Times), and in 2005 the organization Musical America named him ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’. Special notice has gone to his performances of the Bach solo sonatas and partitas. Christian Tetzlaff gives regular duo recitals with chamber partners such as Leif Ove Andsnes and Lars Vogt and performs frequently with his own string quartet. He appears with most major orchestras and, as soloist and chamber musician, performs at prestigious concert venues such as the Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Konzerthaus and Musikverein in Vienna, as well as in London, Paris, Berlin and Munich.
