Elements assembles works inspired by the four classical elements, conceived by saxophonist Huw Wiggin and harpist Oliver Wass. Baroque masterworks alternate with newly composed pieces: Couperin's Le Rossignol en Amour, Bach's Goldberg Aria, Purcell's Dido's Lament and Corelli's La Follia share the programme with Charlotte Harding's Euphotic, Laura Bowler's Caesium and works by Yshani Perinpanayagam and Andy Scott — all friends and colleagues of the performers. The distinctive combination of saxophone and harp creates a unique sonic palette that bridges centuries and idioms, giving both the familiar and the newly written an equal and natural home.
