The Artistry of Hans Fagius
Catalog Number: BIS140-41
A magnificent double album surveying European organ music across three centuries. Hans Fagius moves from North German Baroque masters — Buxtehude, Böhm, Reincken — to the English voluntary tradition, playing three historic Swedish organs.
Special Offer
Hans Fagius presents over 150 minutes of organ music on this two-disc set, ranging from the 16th to the 19th century. The first disc explores the North German organ school — Scheidemann, Weckmann, Böhm, Reincken, and Buxtehude — alongside Swedish composers Zellbell and Geist, before concluding with Krebs and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. The second disc turns to the English tradition, with works by Tallis, Byrd, Gibbons, Purcell, and both Samuel Wesley and Samuel Sebastian Wesley, then closes with Mozart's celebrated Fantasia for a Musical Clock. The recordings were made on three Swedish instruments: the organs of Sandviken Baptist Church, Mariefred Church, and Norra Åsarp Church.
